COVID-19, a global pandemic has shattered so many lives with more than 58,000 deaths globally as by 4th April 2020. We simply cannot imagine what those families are all going through, being unable to say a proper goodbye to their loved ones. These are some of the most uncertain times in human history, no strategist, analyst, no form of clairvoyance; spiritual, technological or otherwise was able to foresee such a catastrophe coming.
A situation that is belittling every advancement in technology, health, and finance. A domino effect that everyone is helpless to stop. With governments enforcing mandatory lockdowns in institutions, businesses and whole countries at large such as Uganda, most adults are finding it hard to stay at home as it has been so long since some adults have been home doing nothing. With the current technological advancements, work can be done from anywhere, yet the current crisis has shown us why the majority are still opting for the more traditional form of work — on-site (in offices and such).

The different house routines are not favorable for anyone’s productivity levels. Considering most of our homes are not built with working at home in mind, the mandatory work from home is proving to be a tad difficult. It is time our architects start making such exemptions on their designs. Let me start by what one essentially needs to be able to utilize his/her home space fully to turn into a productive environment.
First, try to get a work desk and chair. Most of us simply look at the basics of a dining table, sofa set chair, and a mini sitting room table and forget the need for this yet vital organ of a 21st-century remote work essential. A state of the artwork desk could cost you about 100 to 200 USD from a game store near you. For a chair, on the other hand, you will need one that can be adjusted to your work desk height with ease. These are quite expensive since they can go to about 250 USD each, but consider it as the best fit for your maximum efforts you will plug into this.

Second, this goes out to people who will spend nearly all their day on a laptop such as coders. It is only befitting that you acquire a slightly bigger monitor display as this can save you cramping all your work on one tiny little laptop screen. Also, a docking station is a necessity for the latest laptops to help with extensions that may come with limited ports. In case you are a creative writer or a digital artist. I may not have to remind you of the old fashion mouse that was quite an invention.
Last but not least, where to place your work station. Now as I earlier stated, we still have a gap in our house architecture system but in case you can get a separate room as your office space. Place your desk in a position where you can view the door so that you can keep track of everyone that comes in. And also a little far from the window sight as this can become a source of destruction but also where you can receive the natural lighting to save on the lamp blue lighting.
With all this in play, your productivity tool left will be to keep a clutter-free desk. This is utterly a go skill to making the most of this quarantine time with a home-work balance ethic.
