I am honored to have had an opportunity to work with a multi-national company more so one with Security as major concern and customer satisfaction at the forefront. Banks cannot operate solely that’s why we have regulatory bodies to monitor their transactions such as the World Bank and the country bank regulatory authority which for my case is Bank of Uganda. Certain compliance measures are agreed upon to ensure a safe work environment for all concerned parties. The IT department is at the core of any business driving the workforce for productivity measures and delivering the right tools to ensure everyone is doing their best at any given point in time T.

What most tech savvies forget in the process are the security vulnerabilities that could cost your entire company or brand. With technology constantly shaping our future, we have had the emergence of disruptive technologies such as Artificial intelligence, Big Data, mobility, Block chain among others all with viable use case experiences to redefine the future of work but one thing will never change and that’s are we not posing a threat to our clients. This short lived intern period, I have labored to learn how the Bank does this right from its network allowing only registered devices with predefined access rights be able to access certain information, the network having security measures such as firewalls, Virtual Private Networks, De-Militarized Zones, Portnox to the compliance measures taken before adding a device to the Bank domain, these include having Data Loss prevention agents installed, antivirus, cyber-security software, Hard disk encryption etc.

There are a number of ways to manage your workers and giving them just the right amount of access to do what they are intended and nothing more but this was my lesson. Among the other things I have gained from this industrial training are solving issues raised by the users of the company IT assets such as laptops, CPU's , meeting people within other departments and Branches , being able to work with them through a day or two to mention but a few. Hope this paints a picture of my day to day experience in office.
